DELEGATIONS from the 36 states of the federation and Abuja under the banner of the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) have ratified the proposed merger into the All Peoples Congress (APC).
The delegates, who converged on Gusau, on Saturday, unanimously endorsed the proposed merger presented to the 6,054 of them by the national chairman of the ANPP, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu.

Advancing reasons for the merger, the chairman remarked that impunity ruled in the land as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had failed to provide the platform for the development of the country in spite of its 14 years in power. Instead he posited that the country was confronted with hopelessness, despair, stagnation, joblessness and insecurity.
“Today, there are many Nigerians who cannot afford three square meals on their tables; many cannot afford to send their children to schools or pay hospital bills. Worst, many graduates have no jobs because many industries in the country are not operational,” he said.
Ogbonnaya contended that it was for these reasons that progressives felt there must be change, saying that, the resolve to defeat PDP in subsequent elections in the land was conceived.
He advised the ruling political party to start planning for its exit as Nigerians were yearning for change, pointing out that the process of change had just started for the merger of the three dominant political parties in the country.
