It is generally believe that only a
woman can conceive and give birth to a young one, however, this is not the case
with one unidentified Berlin man, who becomes the first man in Germany to give birth
to a baby.
The
man, who is identity as a male physically but has female reproductive system,
gives birth to a baby boy on 18th of March 2013 in a home birth.
The
man insisted on home birth because he refused to be listed as a mother on any
hospitals’ records against the legal requirement of birth delivery in German.
He was therefore assisted by midwife in the Neukölln area of Berlin.
The
transgender man was registered as a father of the child he delivered on the
Government record and became the first in Europe to give birth to baby after
being pregnant through an unidentified sperm donor.
He
was however, denied the request to keep the gender of the child unknown to the
people after being granting his first request of naming him as a father rather
than mother of the new born baby.
The
German journalists however response to the news of the transgender birth was
with astonishment, this was demonstrated with the different titles they used to
report the news, such as ‘Baby belly instead of a beer belly!’ and so on.
The
case of child born by transgender parent is not new in U.S. as the case of
Thomas Beatie, a transgender man that has already had three kids proved it.
Germany’s
vast and overarching welfare will keep close tabs on the boy in case of any
psychological situation that might arise as a result of situation surrounding
his conception and birth.
