Katsina Road Accident: 5 Killed – FRSC ***Four of the victims are of the same family.


The Katsina State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of five persons and injury of three others in an accident during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration in the state.


Habu Dauda, the state FRSC sector commander who confirmed this to newsmen in Katsina on Saturday, said the accident occurred on Friday at about 4.30 p.m. on Katsina-Dutsinma road.

He said the incident happened in Batagarawa Local Government Area when two Peugeot cars model 406 and 307 with registration numbers EW 527 ABC and FL 121 RET, respectively, collided.

Following the incident he said, five persons: three men and two women, died instantly while three others were injured.

He said the FRSC rescue team which arrived at the scene few minutes after the accident took the injured persons to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Katsina for treatment. He also said the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the FMC mortuary.

Mr. Dauda said the accident was caused by dangerous over-taking.
He appealed to motorists, especially during a festive period such as Sallah, to always abide by the traffic rules and regulations to avoid accidents.

Four of the deceased persons were said to be from the same family.
