THE Yobe State governor, Ibrahim Gaidam on Wednesday reiterated the need for security agents and the Defence Headquarters in particular to reconsider the restoration of GSM services in the state.
The governor made the call when he received the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Sa’ad, who was in the state to sympathise with the government over the recent attack on students of GSS Mamudo, where 22 students and a teacher were killed by yet to be identified gunmen.
The governor pointed out that the people of the state are presently willing to divulge useful information to security agents but lack of GSM service is thwarting their efforts in the quest for lasting peace.
Gaidam appreciated the visit and praised security forces and the Joint Task Force, in particular, for the current peace enjoyed in the state.
The governor also charged them to change their mode of operation in tackling the incessant attacks in the state and the nation as a whole.
He said his administration will continue to accord the needed support to security agents in the conduct of their civic responsibility.
The Chief of Defence Staff represented by Chief of Research and Development, Defence Headquarters, Major General Ariahu assured Nigerians and people of Yobe State in particular that “the Nigerian Army is fully committed towards bringing to end the security challenges facing the country.”
He said the Defence Headquarters was saddened with the shocking news of the attack, pointing out that they are working hard to provide maximum security to the people.
The Chief of Defence Staff also said his entourage is in the state to see things for themselves and proffer lasting solutions to the problem through enhanced security strategies.
