Most females in the showbiz industry have one huge challenge, the fact that males automatically seem to have an upper hand in the game. Some of them have confessed that they usually have to grant sexual favors before their talent is given a push.

TotalShowbiz.com caught up with celebrated TV host, Anita Erskine, on the issue and she has some great ideas for females in the game.


Totalshowbiz: How can the Ghanaian/African female prepare and positin herself such that she can overcome the challenges in the industry?

Anita Erskine: Focus, Drive & Confidence are the trifecta of being successful in whatever you do! Yes the path to creating a path in our world of Media and Entertainment isn’t always an easy one. It requires a lot of self confidence – conviction that you are good at what you do. BELEIEF in your plan and focusing on your goal. It starts from your mind.
TotalShowbiz: Is it really that simple?

Anita Erskine: Never. That’s why it’s a journey – it’s a path that you have to carve for yourself. And yes it DOES take years. Sometimes a life time to be able to see the benefits of your hard earned stripes. But it is a choice you have to make for your self. Sometimes taking your time to climb up the ladder can be difficult – I agree. And as humans we have the tendency to always as “When?”…..but you have to apply these rules, pay your dues and then bask in the glory of success.

TotalShowbiz: Any message for the males in the industry? How can we help the women?

Anita Erskine: I think at first, you need to appreciate that women come “IN PEACE”…….Just as much as you LOVE what you do and want to be successful in it, so do we. Try and appreciate our minds. Women are naturally intuitive, creative, hardworking and determined. When you come across this kind of woman, give her the space and time to show you what her brains can do!!!
