Multiple blasts and heavy gun battle rocked parts of Maiduguri, Borno State, Sunday evening as the city witnessed its first rainfall.
Witnesses said the shooting started at about 6 p.m. amidst heavy explosion.
The area affected is Sabon-Gari area of Gwange, a previously notorious flash point of violence by the insurgent Boko Haram.
Residents, who are trapped indoors, said the shooting is the first in a long while in the area.
