Moses Inspires Chelsea In Europa

Victor Moses
Nigeria winger, Victor Moses scored for European champions, Chelsea as the London club recorded a 2-1 victory over Swiss side, FC Basel in a first leg semifinal game at Sankt Jakob-Park on Thursday.

The 22-year-old netted in fortuitous fashion after 12 minutes to put Chelsea on the path to a priceless away win which sets things up nicely for the return leg at Stamford Bridge next week.

Branislav Ivanovic failed to connect cleanly with Frank Lampard’s corner and the ball ricocheted off Moses past a stranded Basel goalkeeper, Yann Sommer to give Chelsea the lead.

Moses’ compatriot, John Obi Mikel was an unused substitute in the game as the Chelsea manager, Rafa Benitez continues to rotate his squad.
Moses has now scored in his last three Uefa Europa League games for the Blues.

After the game in Switzerland, the forward took to the social networking site, Twitter to express his delight.
"Great result always good to score a goal looking forward to second leg fans were amazing #chelsea,” he tweeted via @VictorMoses.

Chelsea will face Basel in the return leg at Stamford Bridge on May 2 with the Swiss club needing to score at least twice to stand any chance of advancing to the final which comes up in May.
