Gunmen Kill 13 Policemen In Bayelsa

News reaching us has it that about 13 policemen were killed in Bayelsa state.

It was reported that Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) might be responsible for the attack. MEND had earlier threatened to resume attack by the mid of Friday due to their leader, Henry Okah jailed by a court in South Africa.

The attacked on the early hour of Saturday claimed about 13 lives.

According to Kingsley Omire, thecommissioner of police in the state, the boat carrying the police officials was headed to a funeral when it developed engine fault.
It is still unclear if the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) is responsible for the attack.

In an e-mail last week, the group had threatened to resume killings in the region following the jailing of its leader Henry Okah by a South African court.
