FEMI KUTI TO ROCK AMVCAS' STAGE

With the first-ever AfricaMagic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) ready to hold tomorrow, it has been confirmed that Afrobeat king, Femi Anikulapo Kuti, accompanied by a full band, will take to the stage at the Eko Hotel And Suites' Exhibition Centre, venue of the awards ceremony.

P.M.NEWS Entertainment Cafe learnt that the Afrobeat star will be joined on stage by Tiwa Savage and Kenyan leading Afro-pop group, Sauti Sol.

The festivities, to be screened live to over 50 African countries, will begin at 6p.m, with a live one-hour red carpet pre-show. The pre-show will be anchored by Channel O Veejay, Denrele Edun. He will be supported by Helen Paul and Uti Nwachukwu (Jara Hosts), Dolapo Oni and Eku Edewor (53 Extra), Lawrence Maleka (StarGist), and Nic Wang'ondu and Sarah Hassan (Mashariki Mix).
The organisers also announced Big Brother Africa host, IK Osakioduwa, and StarGist leading lady, Vimbai Mutinhiri, as the hosts of the main show.
Biola Alabi, M-Net Africa's Managing Director, said the two were chosen because of their experience and passion for the African entertainment scene and capability to engage both television viewers and invited guests.
Vimbai said she is honoured to be part of AMVCA. "I feel there is no better way to pay homage to the outstanding stars we have on this continent than to be a part of the grand occasion to honour each one of them. I am sincerely humbled," she told P.M.NEWS Entertainment Cafe in a telephone chat from Johannesburg, South Africa.
AMVCA is held in association with MultiChoice and sponsored by Amstel Malta.
