TOBORE OVUORIENigeria has been chosen to host the 2014 edition of the homeland and global security forum.
Homeland and global security forum is a multi-dimensional platform which brings together the public and private sectors from around the world to brainstorm and create a better and more secure world.
This is the first time an African nation would be hosting the event many describe as ‘historic and renowned’.
Governments, international organisations and civil society are also expected to be at the historic event.
According to Crans Montana Forum, CMF, organisers of the event, Nigeria was chosen because she “is challenged by numerous and complex concerns.”
“Energy supply routes security and global security including the fight against piracy are on top of both the Nigerian and World Global agendas,” the organisers said.
The event is billed to hold from February 6 to 8, 2014, in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state.
The CMF secretariat in Switzerland stated in an official release made available to PREMIUM TIMES that Rivers State was chosen because of her security consciousness.
“With a strong oil industry, Rivers State is among the most dynamic states, promoting a safe and secure environment for business investment,” it stated.
