…Obasanjo, IBB, Atiku, Shun Jonathan

The strained relationship between President Goodluck Jonathan and his predecessor, Olusegun Obasanjo, played out again yesterday as the latter shunned the former’s mid-term report presentation in Abuja for an economic summit organised by Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido.

Obasanjo’s absence at Jonathan’s mid-term report presentation could further confirm his perceived opposition to Jonathan’s rumoured decision to seek re-election in 2015.

Also conspicuously absent at Jonathan’s presentation were former Head of State General Muhammadu Buhari, former Military President Ibrahim Babangida, former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and House of Representatives Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

It was, however, later announced that Tambuwal was represented at Jonathan’s presentation by his deputy, Ihedioha.

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi were also absent at the presentation.
Those who attended Jonathan’s presentation include Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo, Senate President David Mark, Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Emeka Ihedioha,  Senate Leader Victor Ndoma Egba and Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Aloma Mukhtar.

Others are former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, former President Shehu Shagari, former Head of the Interim National Government Chief Ernest Shonekan, among others.
