Police In Kaduna Confirm Killing Of Younger Brother Of NNPC Boss

The Police in Kaduna State have confirmed the killing, by armed robbers, of Yohanna Yakubu, a member of staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and younger brother of the corporation’s Managing Director, Engr. Andrew Yakubu.

The police said that Yohanna was robbed and shot by the robbers during an ambush of dozens of travelers on the Kaduna-Kachia Road, in front of his wife and two other persons, including a little girl. This contradicts an earlier report that the younger Yakubu was killed by assassins.
SaharaReporters has also learned that Yohanna was on his way to his home town in Southern Kaduna, and not on his way back to Kaduna town, where he worked and resided with his family.
Another source at NNPC headquarters in Abuja confirmed to SaharaReporters on condition of anonymity that Mr. Andrew Yakubu has now arrived in Kaduna following the death of his younger brother.
Meanwhile, the wife of the deceased is understood to be under observation in a hospital in Kaduna, where doctors are treating her for hypertension arising from witnessing the brutal killing of her husband.
UPDATE:  SaharaReporters investigation has revealed that Engr. Yohanna La’ah Bagu Yakubu, younger brother of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) GMD Engr. Andrew Yakubu, who was killed today by 'armed robbers' was until his death an engineer at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) at the Kaduna Refinery. He was born on  April 24th 1965, meaning he would have turned 48 in ten days time.
He attended  Government Secondary Technical School, Soba in Kaduna State and later studied electrical and electronic engineering at the Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori in  Khana Local Government Area in Rivers State.
