Academic Staff of the Osun State owned tertiary institutions yesterday shunned court order asking them to end their ongoing strike in the state.
It was learnt that all the four tertiary institutions affected were under lock and key and the institutions were deserted except for few students noticed around campuses.
The affected institutions are Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, Osun State College of Education, Ilesa and that of Ila-Orangun.
An Osogbo High Court on Wednesday presided over by Justice Oyejide Falola ordered the striking lecturers to go back to classes with immediate effect.
Justice Falola while ruling on an order of interlocutory injunction directed the rectors and provosts of the affected institutions to resume academic activities pending the determination of the originating summons.
The presidents of the student union for and on behalf of the students of the four institutions namely, Muideen Kareem, Rauf Akindele, Mattew Adegboyega and Abiodun Oshun had dragged management of their institutions and government before the Osogbo High Court demanding immediate re-opening of the institutions so that they can continue their programmes.
Public Relations Officer of the Association of Academic Staff in Osun State Owned Tertiary Institutions Dotun Omisore said the union has just received the court court order and still studying it on what to do.
