Lagos — Taribo West, a former Super Eagles defence stalwart on Thursday hailed the brilliant performance of the Golden Eaglets at the ongoing CAF U-17 Championship in Morocco and tipped the team for the trophy. West made the remark in an interview in Lagos.
The former Auxerre FC of France and Inter Milan FC of Italy defender, charged the players to avoid the mistakes they made against their Ivorien foes at the group stage.
It would be recalled that the Golden Eaglets had suffered a 0-1 loss at the hands of their fellow West African rivals, in spite of their awesome pedigree.
The two teams will once again renew their rivalry in the finals of the tournament on Saturday, to decide the winner of the 2013 CAF U-17 Championship.
"I am sure that they have learnt a thing or two from their last match, losing their second game against the Ivoriens will not do them a lot of good now.
"Because they will be extra careful, and naturally the Ivoriens will be confident of winning, which will bring their downfall, it's only natural that their earlier success may get into their heads.
"The two teams know their shortcomings, and it is left for the Eaglets to exploit this in all ways; they have equal chances though but I see the Eaglets taking the day," West added. NAN
