In an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) held yesterday in Abuja, The ASUP has declared a 7 days nation-wide warning strike. This will commence on 22nd of April, 2013.
According to this day, the statement was signed by the union’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Clement Chirman, ASUP listed its unresolved issues to include: none constitution of governing councils for Polytechnics, Monotechnics, and Colleges of Technology; none release of government white paper of the visitation panels to the federal polytechnics; and none commencement of the NEED Assessments of the Nigerian Polytechnics.
The warning strike will follow by indefinite strike if government fails to address the issue.
