Nigeria remain 30th on FIFA rankings

With no match played since winning the Africa Cup of Nations on February 10, and no points earned in the last one month, the Super Eagles remained in the 30th position in the latest FIFA rankings, just as they were after their African victory.
The rankings mean Nigeria are still the fourth best in Africa, behind Ivory Coast, Ghana and Mali. The Elephants and the Black Stars, however, dropped one place
respectively to stay at 13th and 20th.
Nigeria, which had stayed around the 50th mark for several months, leapt 22 places with their continental success to stay in their current position.
Former African champions, Zambia, who dropped eight places after losing their crown last month, jumped 11 places up to 36th in the rankings.
Similarly, AFCON finalists Burkina Faso, who moved 37 places up after their feat in South Africa, got additional push to move up five places to stay at 50th.
The rankings revealed very few changes in the upper reaches, with Spain continuing to hold a comfortable lead at the top over Germany and Argentina.
However, Colombia assumed outright sixth place on the global ladder – a position they shared with Portugal, who drop down a slot.
FIFA said a total of 18 Grade A international matches were taken into account for the March edition of the rankings.(punch)
