Nigeria name 15 for Baseball World Cup

The Nigeria Baseball and Softball Federation (NBSF) has released the list of 15 players that will represent Nigeria in the forthcoming Baseball U-12 World Cup in Taipei, China in July this year.
While releasing the list, the national team Coach Gerrard Hall said that these players have been ‘tested and trusted’ after a 14-day intensive training programme which took place at the main bowl of Rosebud College Ibadan, Oyo State.
The list shows that Sliders of Ilorin had 6 players in the team, DoubleT of Ilorin 2, Divine Warriors of Ibadan 3 and G-sent of Lagos 4 players.
The Head Coach to the team, Joseph Ogunseye, in a chat said the technical crew paid attention to competence, skills, flexibility and compactness of the team in picking the players, adding that the team assembled for Nigeria is formidable but would need to play also
formidable teams from outside Nigeria to polish their baseball skills before the main tournament in Taipei in July.
He appealed to government and corporate organizations to support the development and promotion of baseball in Nigeria, as it would open up diverse opportunities to the country and the youths.
“With this giant stride we have recorded by appearing in this World Cup, I sincerely believe that it will serve as a stepping stone for the development of baseball in Nigeria”
“These players can face any team in the world. What we need to do is to put finishing touches in the area of fitness, flexibility and other minor areas that will give the team the deserved edge over their opponents”, he concluded.
