...NCF Wants More Pitches In 36 States

As part of the effort to popularise the game of cricket, Nigeria Cricket Federation, NCF has called on its affiliated 36 states of the country to ensure that playing pitches are constructed in their different states as soon as possible.
The board of the NCF resolved among other things at its meeting held recently at the Savannah Suites Hotel, Abuja that states associations are encouraged  to apply for land for the establishment of cricket pitches where non-existent for the development of the game
in their domain while NCF will assist based on available funds. The board meeting also ordered that the building of a turf wicket at Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS cricket oval in Onikan, Lagos should start soon.
The board also commended the NCF for being ranked 21st in administration globally out of 96 ICC Associate/Affiliate countries on the scorecard of ICC and resolved that the performance be sustained and improved upon.
The 2013 calendar of events presented by the Chief Operating Officer, COO, George Wiltshire, was adopted by the board which also resolved that non-ICC funds should be raised to make the development programmes of the NCF more robust. A team of the President of the NCF, Kwesi Sagoe and some other members of the board will pay a courtesy call on De United Foods Industries Limited (DUFIL), makers of Indomie Noodles to renew the sponsorship of the NCF Schools Championship programme.
The board ratified the termination of the appointment of the National Development Manager and directed the COO to present a draft NCF Development Policy by 31 March.
