The former England and Newcastle United striker, Michael Owen has announced his intention to retire from professional football at the end of the season.
The 33 years old striker, who had played for many clubs in the world made this known through his twitter @themichaelowen.
@themichaelowen: Big day today. I have decided that this will be my last season as a professional footballer.
Michael Owen stated as a young player 17 and played for Liverpool, Real Madrid (2004), Newcastle, Manchester United and Stoke.
He has achieved so much in his choosing career and have won major tournaments among which are FA Cup, League Cup (3times), UEFA Cup, name European footballer of the year in 2001 the first Englishman to achieved the accolade since Kevin Keegan in 1979.
There is no double that the world of football will miss the great achiever and sport hero when he eventually retires.
